We all know and use
Google (www.google.com)
all the time as the world’s best search engine. Then we got
GoogleMail and even an online Calendar & Address Book. Then a
while ago, Google released their first ‘Android’ OS palmtop
device (to join the many devices using the other OSs such as
Symbian, Palm, iPhone, Windows Mobile, Pocket PC & Blackberry);
and now they are apprearing more and more! So, the time has come for
the Palmtopman to start supporting yet another palmtop OS, in this
case Google's ‘Android’….. |

T-Mobile’s (PAYG) Android Pulse25/10/2009Android is no longer a contractual commitment.
T-Mobile has launched Pulse: the UK’s first Android-based smartphone
available on pay-as-you-go. Pulse, a Huawei-manufactured handset has
been launched on PAYG in an attempt to bring Android to “a wider set
of mobile users”. Sporting a “curvy black polished chrome
exterior”, Pulse has a 3.5″ touchscreen display that can also be
navigated using the phone’s physical tracker ball. |

connectivity over
both HSDPA 3G and Wi-Fi, MicroSD, Bluetooth, 3.2 Mega pixel
camera. Palmtopman got one of these today
(27/10/09) and so
will now be supporting ‘Android’ too! Watch out for future
Blogs about ‘Android’, specifically the ‘T-Mobile Pulse’. |

| Android,
well an alien really…a new beginning: the HTC Hero

|
| Android
is the newest handheld/PDA operating system. It’s an incredibly easy
to use operating system, featuring an intuitive user interface which is
highly customisable. All emails, phone calls and social network comments
and pictures are organised by person, rather than by communication type.
It is an open source operating system, which means there are numerous
additional applications available, for example games and social
networking. Psions OPL (Organiser Programming Language) was ‘Open
Source’ which enabled countless programmers to produce
freeware/shareware apps for the Psions. Likewise for the Android OS the
applications are available for download from
the Android Market (which is directly accessible from the device;
(similar to the hugely popular Apple App Store and the Blackberry App
Store) and many are free. With these applications users can tailor their
smartphone to their own needs and requirements. The HTC Hero is the latest smartphone device to use this innovative operating system and is available from Clove Technology, www.clove.co.uk. |
